The White Stag

Jim Mc Teggart adds: "As an ex trucker who stopped overnight on the gap, you forgot to tell people about the Stag`s Head Pub at the top of the road. The food was excellent, prices reasonable. The landlord, Jack, and his wife were wonderful people, you were always welcome in their pub, it was like our firm's 2nd home."

Reader Bill Walker informs me that The Stag's Head has been sold, is in the process of refurbishment, and is to open in December (2003) as "The Thai Garden". I suppose one could almost imagine oneself in Bangkok - if they moored a sampan alongside...
